Hey, y'all! I'm Evann.
I'm a graduate of Michigan State University (GO GREEN!), with degrees in journalism and apparel & textiles...which really is just a fancy way of saying fashion design. I'm a native of Detroit, and unlike most of my peers looking to make it in the fashion industry, I'm not trying to chase after the glitz & glamour that is New York City. I love where I'm from, and I want to do things on my own terms. For years, I've been preaching to my close friends about how I want to create a stronger fashion scene in Detroit. And now that I'm out of school, I'm going to do just that! I like to say that I'm "well dressed and highly determined," and as you continue to read my posts (which I hope you do), you'll see that I like to work hard but slay even harder.
Damsel in Detroit is going to be all about my experiences as a recent graduate trying to jump-start her own career, and the things I wear along the way. I'm not an expert stylist by any means — I wear what makes me comfortable and what makes me feel good; and I'm going to encourage my readers to do the same. Sure, fashion has tons of "rules," but personal style is what matters the most.
There are so many other things I'm interested in aside from fashion. I love art, music, culture, food, watching the worst movies I can find on Netflix, beauty & haircare, Christmas, and reading. I'll be sharing some of these things with you on the blog, too! My blog is going to be a place for my readers and I to converse about any and everything.
So, kick back, relax, read, skim through, comment, share or do whatever the heck your heart desires. Thanks for stopping by!
